What does it mean to BEHOLD something or someone?

It is noticing what is around us, which begins with intention. When you get up and greet a new day, watch the loves of your life, take in the natural world, and pay attention to life with a leaning towards gratitude— It is holding in your heart, treasuring, savoring, and being amazed by the blessings or wonders that are revealed on the journey.

“Behold” is used in the Christian Bible to draw attention to what is being presented. Often it is said by an angel, like they are saying, “Hey, Look. Listen. This Matters!”

“Beholdng this good life”, is my creative response to this wonder-filled, soaked-in-beauty, mysteriously connected, sacred gift called life.

Photos, quotes, book reviews, art, and journaling here express my thoughts, be they beliefs, hopes, doubts, or concerns. Within these pages, you will find words that try to make sense of experiences, lend encouragement, and reveal some of the process I am moving through to make meaning of it all.

I don’t expect everyone who stops by to share the same experiences or responses as me. Maybe you can find something inspiring or hopeful here. May you be encouraged or reminded of the gift of being alive.

Some things that are easy to behold…

Acts of kindness.

Big, puffy, white clouds.

Sunrises & sunsets.

Autumn leaves.

Old trees.

The uncountable shades of green in early spring.

The gazing love of my dog.

Children belly-laughing.

Babies.

Thunderstorms.

A full moon.

A clear night sky full of stars.

The smell of coffee brewing.

The warmth, beauty, and smell of a campfire.

A snowy night.
